Dear members and friends,
Please join us next Wednesday June 12 2019 at 7.00 pm in the Tong Village Hall (The Old Schoolroom).
We are holding a Trustees meeting and there will be a short amount of trustee business, but the main purpose of the meeting is to discuss the Bradford Council proposals for a South East Bradford Link Road through the Tong Valley.
WE WANT TO APPOINT MORE TRUSTEES> COULD YOU ADD TO THE STRENGTH OF OUR BOARD?
You may have seen the Article in the Telegraph and Argus, but in case you missed it here is the link
We have been warning of this possibility for several years, but we now have the evidence of the Council’s intentions. This proposal will devastate the Valley and is the key indicator that the Council intends to push ahead with the the Holme Wood Urban Extension of 2700 Houses, despite the substantial drop in new homes needed in the Bradford District. Depending on the route selected people in Fulneck and the Westroyds will be affected by noise and pollution.
It could well create rather than alleviate congestion, and its prime purpose is to maximise the opportunities for private developers in Tong Valley at a public cost which the T & A puts at over £60 million,
Our Chair will be attending the Combined Authority sub- committee meeting in Leeds on Tuesday which will decide on the funding and will report back to us at the meeting on Wednesday.
Do come and bring anyone who might be affected
John Finnigan, Joint Hon Secretary
